3rd COST Action e-MINDS Training School / 6th World Congress on Nanotechnology and Material Science

The oral presentation entitled “Functional electrodeposited Fe-W alloys: design, characterization and properties” delivered by Aliona Nicolenco (SELECTA ESR from VU) was awarded  the “Best Student Presentation” during the 3rd COST Action e-MINDS Training School, which took place in Siófok, Hungary, between 26th and 30th of March 2018. The presentation was mainly focused on the design of an electrolytic bath for Fe-W co-deposition and aimed to provide the basic principles for the calculation of complexes distribution and to show the convenience of this approach to unveil the factors controlling the performance of the plating bath. The jury consisted of three people (Prof. László Péter, Prof. Nina Dimcheva, Dr. Soma Vesztergom) who assessed the novelty, professional level, reaction to questions, as well as the didactic level of the presentation, among other criteria, and recognized three out of sixteen student presentations at the closing session on 30th of March. The Training School program is attached.

The video entitled “Functional electrodeposited Fe-W alloys for environmentally sustainable applications”, also prepared by Aliona Nicolenco, was recognized as the “Best Video Award” established by the same COST Action e-MINDS (MP1407). The video is targeted to a broad audience and shows the main highlights of Aliona’s research on Fe-W alloys within SELECTA project, such as sustainability aspects and thermodynamics of Fe-based alloys electrodeposition, research methodology, main results and outcomes. As a winner, Aliona had the chance to attend a conference of her choice. The costs associated with the attendance to the conference were covered by the Cost Action. An oral presentation was delivered at the 6th World Congress on Nanotechnology and Material Science in Valencia (Spain), which was held on 16-18th of April 2018. Both SELECTA project and COST Action e-MINDS were acknowledged in the talk. The awarded video can be watched online by clicking on the following link:
